Thank You!

This is our final Wolf Pack Press for the 2021-2022 school year. We would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful teachers and staff at who have worked tirelessly this year amid challenges that far exceed a regular school year. Our children enjoy a lively learning environment in a caring school community with adults who have gone above and beyond -- we are so grateful to you!

We would also like to thank the many volunteers who make St. Anthony Park Elementary such a welcoming and engaged school community. From library to luminary, field day to clean-up day, Every Meal distribution to service projects -- the hours you have dedicated matter and contribute to our shared community. You are dearly valued! Thank you.

Several of our SAPSA board members are finishing up their two year terms this summer. We are so grateful for the extended service they offered our school during a couple of the weirdest years on record. Thank you to Becky Ammerman (Volunteer Coordinator), Jess Thomford (Secretary), Samantha Cakir (Advisory Council) and Yesenia Anderson (Treasurer)!

Congratulations, 5th Graders!

Our entire school community is so proud of the 5th Graders who celebrated their final year at SAP last week. We hope you have an incredible summer and know you will be hugely successful in Middle School!

Last Chance For Lost & Found

If your student is missing an item of clothing, footwear or water bottle, tomorrow will be the last chance to reclaim it. Please stop in to school in the morning during Family Friday or remind your child to go look. We'd like to thank Jess Thomford for all the many hours of sorting, displaying, photographing all the items in Lost & Found this year. She has once more this week transformed a pile worthy of a Shel Silverstein poem into a tidy nook where we can all actually search for what is missing (see below).

Family Friday, June 10th

Please join us for our final Family Friday on the morning of June 10th. Family is welcome to come into the building and say farewell to teachers and staff and peruse Lost & Found. Donuts and coffee will be available outside after school starts.

Volunteering Next Year

Please take a few minutes to let us know if you are interested or able to help out next year. We have hundreds of hours of volunteer work available in a regular school year and it is a great way to become engaged with the school community. You can let us know your interests here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805084DA4AC2DA0FA7-sapelementary

Field Day Fun!

Field Day was such a hoot. Thank to everyone who volunteered, to our teachers and staff who lent a hand, and, especially, to Ms. Paulsen who masterminded the entire event two days in a row AND ran all our kids so ragged they slept like angels Thursday and Friday night. It is such a joy to be outside in the sunshine with a school full of kids having the times of their lives. Bravo!

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are provided for every student at SAP Elementary. Thank you to photographer, Hans Thomsen, and photographer & designer, Amy Raddatz, for their work bringing this keepsake to life.

If you would like to help off-set that expense, please do so here: https://checkout.square.site/buy/I3V3OAR7FGFI2YONQPCKPRYC

Covid-19 Boosters Now Available for Ages 5-11

The CDC has approved COVID-19 booster shots for anyone age 5 years and older. Booster shots are currently available for anyone 5 years and older who received their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 5 months ago or Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 2 months ago.

Why do I need a booster shot?

COVID-19 vaccines are very effective, but new data shows protection may decrease over time. Booster shots are common for many vaccines, like the flu shot or Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis).

Who can get a second booster shot?

The following people are eligible to get a second booster shot to enhance their protection if it has been at least 4 months since their first booster:

  • People ages 50 years and older.

  • People ages 12-49 years who have certain immunocompromising conditions.

  • People 18 and older who received Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine for their initial dose and booster dose.

A second booster shot could improve protection against severe COVID-19, especially among the elderly and those with a very weak immune system.

Vaccine Clinics:

County, state and community partners are hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics at SPPS schools for kids ages 5 and older and those ages 12 and older who qualify for booster shots (must be 6 months after your second COVID-19 vaccine).

  • Every Friday: Gordon Parks High School (1212 W. University Ave.) from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Vaccines are available for students ages 12 and older. Booster shots are available.

  • 6/9: SPPS Administration Building (360 Colborne St.) from 3-6 p.m. Register here.

  • 6/16: SPPS Administration Building (360 Colborne St.) from 3-6 p.m. Register here.

  • 6/23: SPPS Administration Building (360 Colborne St.) from 3-6 p.m. Register here.

St Paul-Ramsey County Public Health also has vaccine clinics at the following locations:

  • Consulate of Mexico (797 E. Seventh St., Saint Paul)

  • Camphor Memorial Church (585 Fuller Ave., Saint Paul)

Appointments are required. Register at ramseycounty.us/COVIDvaccine. Booster shots are available at these clinics for those who are eligible.

See you next year!!!!
